Currency and Exchange Rate Policy

How Qembara handles currencies, exchange rates and the price you pay.

At a glance

TopicQembara rule
Price displayYou may view prices in an available currency. Qembara will identify the currency and amount you will actually pay before you confirm payment.
Currency lockThe exchange rate and accepted amount lock when you make the Booking by submitting the final booking action. Browsing and nominal card checks do not lock a rate.
RefundA monetary refund is calculated from the original transaction components and ordinarily returned in the original transaction currency.
Host payoutPayout currency is determined by the Host’s approved Payout Method. A payout preview is an estimate unless expressly confirmed as final.
External conversionA bank, card issuer, wallet or payout provider may apply its own conversion rate or fee outside Qembara.

1. Key currency concepts

TermMeaning
Listing CurrencyThe currency in which the Host enters or Qembara records the Host Amount for a Listing.
Display CurrencyThe currency selected or shown for browsing. It may be a convenience conversion.
Transaction CurrencyThe currency in which the Guest accepts and is charged or authorised at checkout. This controls the Guest payment.
Settlement CurrencyThe currency in which the payment provider or bank settles money to Qembara. It does not change the Guest’s accepted Transaction Amount.
Payout CurrencyThe currency linked to the Host’s approved Payout Method.
Reporting CurrencySGD, used by Qembara for internal management, accounting and reconciliation, subject to applicable accounting rules.

2. Available currencies and currency selection

Qembara makes only currencies that it can support for the relevant user, Payment Method, Payout Method and market available in the applicable flow. Availability may depend on location, provider capability, regulatory requirements and operational risk. Selecting a Display Currency does not guarantee that every Payment Method can process it.

If the preferred currency is unavailable, Qembara may require a different currency or method before payment. Changing the Display Currency before payment recalculates the displayed price. A currency cannot be changed retrospectively for a completed payment, or for a later scheduled payment tied to the same Booking unless the checkout terms expressly permit it.

3. Guest price display and checkout

The final checkout screen will show the Total Price, material price components, Transaction Currency, amount to be charged or authorised, and the validity of the booking quote. The Transaction Currency and Total Price accepted when the Guest makes the Booking control that Booking, subject only to the narrowly defined manifest-error rule in section 9.

Where Qembara converts a price, it will always disclose before the Guest makes the Booking: the Transaction Currency; final Transaction Amount; Qembara conversion rate or conversion basis; and any separate Qembara-controlled FX fee, or that the Qembara rate includes an approved conversion margin. External issuer, bank or provider conversion and charges are identified separately and are not described as Qembara charges.

Each booking quote has a unique reference and expiry time. Qembara checks the quote immediately before final booking submission. Qembara will not silently replace the accepted Total Price after the Guest selects the final booking action. If the quote expires or the amount changes before submission, Qembara will display the refreshed Transaction Currency and Total Price and require fresh Guest acceptance.

What the Guest seesRequired treatment
Display and payment in the same currencyThat currency and final amount control.
Display currency differs from Transaction CurrencyCheckout clearly identifies the Transaction Currency and amount; those control.
Payment Method does not support the selected currencyGuest selects another supported currency or Payment Method before confirming.
Bank converts after Qembara submits the chargeThe bank’s billing-currency amount, rate and fee are external to Qembara.

4. Exchange-rate method and lock point

At launch, Qembara uses a manually adjusted managed exchange rate from the approved reference source. The rate may differ from a mid-market, central-bank, bank, card-scheme or real-time rate. Every active rate has a version, UTC-effective period and retained approval record. Qembara retains the exact rate or conversion basis used for each Booking.

The exchange rate and resulting Transaction Amount lock when the Guest makes the Booking by submitting the final Qembara booking action after accepting the displayed Transaction Currency and Total Price. Browsing, an abandoned checkout or a nominal Payment Method verification does not lock a rate. If Qembara cannot complete the Booking using the accepted quote, or a required payment authorisation expires, fails or is voided, a later retry must show a fresh Transaction Currency and Total Price and obtain new Guest acceptance. Later market movement does not reprice the Booking already made.

5. Booking changes and additional payments

A price change after confirmation is binding only after the Guest is shown the revised amount and currency and expressly accepts any increase through an authorised Qembara workflow. A decrease is returned under the Payment Terms and Cancellation and Refund Policy. Each additional payment uses the currency and rate disclosed for that payment and does not rewrite an earlier completed transaction.

6. Refund currency and exchange-rate treatment

Refund entitlement and amount are governed by the Cancellation and Refund Policy. Currency mechanics follow the original payment record. A full refund remains 100% of monetary amounts actually charged through Qembara for the affected Experience.

ScenarioCurrency treatment
Original payment in SGD / SAR / USDRefund is submitted in that same Transaction Currency where the original payment rail supports it.
Display Currency differed from Transaction CurrencyRefund follows the Transaction Currency, not the Display Currency.
Partial refundCalculated from the original transaction components in the Transaction Currency. Qembara converts the applicable amount once, then rounds once to two decimals.
Original Payment Method cannot receive refundQembara offers another lawful method; it does not silently substitute credit.
Issuer converts the refundThe issuer may post a different billing-currency value because of later rates or its fees.

Qembara does not use a later market rate to reduce the Transaction Currency amount otherwise due. Qembara will prevent duplicate recovery where a refund, chargeback, bank reversal or credit overlaps.

7. Host pricing and payout currency

A Host may enter a Host Amount only in a currency Qembara supports for that Listing. Qembara records the Booking’s Listing Currency, Host Amount, Transaction Currency, accepted conversion record and SGD equivalent. The Host’s Payout Currency is determined by the country, method and currency of the approved Payout Method, not solely by the Listing or Guest Transaction Currency.

Where conversion is required for payout, Qembara will show or make available the applicable basis and any Qembara-controlled or provider charge before the Host selects or confirms the arrangement, where required. A payout preview is an estimate unless Qembara expressly confirms it as final. Bank, intermediary and payout-provider conversion or transfer charges may reduce the amount received if disclosed and lawfully allocated under the Host Terms and Payment Terms.

8. Promotions, credits, taxes and rounding

A promotion, credit or voucher follows its issuing terms and the currency treatment shown before use. A reusable credit restored after cancellation is not necessarily cash. Monetary refunds remain governed by the Cancellation and Refund Policy. Taxes and price components are recorded in the Transaction Currency and handled according to the applicable legal and tax setup.

Qembara displays and charges SGD, SAR and USD to two decimal places. For a required conversion, Qembara calculates the approved monetary basis at sufficient internal precision, converts the total once, and then rounds the result once to the Transaction Currency’s two-decimal minor unit. It does not repeatedly convert or round intermediate display values. Qembara will not create a later charge solely to collect a de minimis rounding difference after confirmation.

9. Errors, suspended currency and provider fees

Qembara may suspend a currency or conversion flow if a rate is stale, unavailable, clearly incorrect or operationally unsafe. A Guest may be offered another supported currency before payment. Suspending a currency does not retrospectively change a confirmed Booking’s monetary entitlement.

Qembara may use the manifest-error process only for a material currency or conversion error that was objectively obvious, or that a reasonable Guest should have recognised, when making the Booking. Qembara will ordinarily honour a confirmed non-obvious Qembara error and absorb the difference unless doing so is unlawful or operationally impossible. Otherwise, before the Experience, Qembara will explain the error and first seek a voluntary solution; cancellation with a full refund is the final option. Qembara will never charge an increase without the Guest’s express agreement.

Banks, card issuers, wallets, payment providers, payout providers and intermediary banks may independently impose foreign-transaction, international-processing, dynamic-currency-conversion, transfer or receipt fees. Qembara does not control their rates or charges. Contact the relevant provider about a charge shown only on its statement.

10. Records, questions and policy priority

The policy version, quote reference, Transaction Currency, accepted amounts and applicable conversion record presented when the Guest makes the Booking are retained with the transaction and apply to that Booking. Users should report an apparent currency error promptly and provide the Booking reference, amount, currency, date and relevant statement excerpt without sending full card numbers or security codes.

For refund entitlement, the Cancellation and Refund Policy controls. For payment and payout mechanics, the Payment Terms control. This Policy controls currency-specific explanation and must be read consistently with those documents and the Booking Confirmation. Mandatory law prevails. Qembara may update prospective currency availability or methodology, but will not use a later policy to reduce a confirmed Booking entitlement.
