What reviews should contain, what Qembara does not permit, and how moderation works.
Qembara uses reviews and content to help Guests make informed choices, help Hosts improve and protect trust in locally hosted Experiences. This Policy applies to reviews, ratings, Host responses, Listings, profiles, messages, photographs, audio, video, captions, translations, reports and other content submitted to or displayed through Qembara.
Reviews express individual opinions and do not guarantee identical future performance. Qembara may moderate content under this Policy, but publication does not mean that Qembara adopts, verifies or endorses every statement. Immediate danger, safeguarding or serious incidents follow the Safety and Incident Policy first.
| Rule | Qembara standard |
|---|---|
| Eligible reviewer | Only the Booking Guest for a genuine Qembara Booking may submit the public review and rating. A Participant may provide first-hand input through the Booking Guest and may always report safety, discrimination, privacy or misconduct directly through Qembara’s private reporting route. |
| Eligible event | The Experience is recorded as Completed, or the Guest arrived and the Experience materially commenced or failed for a reason directly connected with the Host or Experience. |
| Ineligible event | Guest did not attend, cancelled for reasons unrelated to the Host or Experience, or has no first-hand basis for reviewing the Experience. |
| Submission window | Within 30 calendar days after the scheduled end time or Qembara’s confirmed closure of an interrupted Experience. The deadline uses the Experience location’s local time; a verified Platform outage extends it by the outage duration. |
| Volume | One public review and rating per Booking, covering the Experience actually booked. |
| Correction | The reviewer may correct the review for 48 hours after submission regardless of publication. Qembara preserves each version, re-screens every edit and notifies the Host of a material change. An edit must not substitute a different reviewer, Booking or Experience. |
| Withdrawal | The reviewer may withdraw the public review and rating within 30 calendar days after publication. Later removal may be requested for privacy, safety, legal or exceptional fairness reasons. Qembara must assess suspected Host pressure and may retain a restricted copy only where lawfully necessary. |
| Host response | One response may be submitted from hour 49 until 23:59 on day 14 after initial publication, using the Experience location’s local time. It may be corrected for 48 hours and is removed from public display if the underlying review is removed or withdrawn. No further public reply is provided in the MVP. |
| Display identity | Use the Guest’s chosen screen name where available; otherwise show first name and last initial. Do not display the full legal name unless the Guest knowingly chooses it and the use is lawful. |
| Publication | Subject to proportionate authenticity, safety, privacy and content checks. Positive and negative reviews are assessed under the same standards. |
A low rating, complaint, refund request, chargeback, incident report or dispute does not by itself prove misconduct or make a review invalid. Review, safety, refund, payout and account decisions must be assessed separately.
Where disability or access needs prevent independent submission, Qembara may provide an approved assisted-submission process that records the Booking Guest’s instructions and confirmation without allowing the assistant to choose the rating, sentiment or substantive content.
At launch, one consolidated public review is permitted per Booking to reduce manipulation and attribution risk. Verified Participants retain direct private reporting rights. Trust & Safety must review this model after six months against review volume, group-Booking fairness and fraud data before any expansion to Participant reviews.
Listings, profiles and Experience media must also comply with the Listing / Prohibited Activities Policy. Where policies overlap, apply the rule that provides the stronger lawful protection against deception, harm, exploitation or privacy intrusion.
| Category | Prohibited content |
|---|---|
| Illegal or dangerous | Content that facilitates crime, illegal drugs, weapons misuse, trafficking, exploitation, self-harm instructions, terrorism, animal cruelty, prohibited wildlife contact, unapproved regulated services or a credible threat of harm. |
| Sexual or exploitative | Pornography, sexual services, child sexual abuse material, grooming, non-consensual intimate imagery or sexualised exploitation. |
| Hate and abuse | Hate speech, discriminatory degradation, harassment, stalking, threats, humiliation, doxxing or targeted abuse. |
| Privacy and confidentiality | Passwords, payment credentials, private addresses, personal contact details, identification, medical information, children’s information, private messages or incident records without lawful authority. |
| Fraud and manipulation | Fake reviews, deceptive claims, impersonation, undisclosed paid promotion, competitor sabotage, ranking manipulation, spam, phishing, malware or off-Platform fee evasion. |
| Intellectual property | Content used without the required copyright, trademark, publicity, venue, performer, music or other permission. |
| Irrelevant or promotional | Content substantially unrelated to the Booking or Experience, repeated text, solicitation, external advertising, referral codes or attempts to redirect users. |
| Materially misleading media | AI-generated, edited, staged or stock content that invents or conceals a Host, venue, food, certification, safety condition, Participant, activity or likely outcome. |
Qembara’s mandatory Muslim-Friendly Baseline governs Listings and delivery. Reviews may accurately describe whether promised food, alcohol, prayer, modesty, privacy, gender-sensitive or photography conditions were delivered. Qembara will not remove a relevant review merely because it raises a Muslim-friendly concern or is uncomfortable for the Host.
| Control | Public rule |
|---|---|
| Overall rating | One score from 1 to 5 stars; text is encouraged but optional. Display the arithmetic mean of published eligible ratings, rounded to one decimal using half-up rounding, together with the included rating count and period. Refresh within 24 hours of publication, removal, withdrawal, restoration or ageing. |
| Minimum display threshold | Show the numeric average after at least three published ratings; before then, show individual verified reviews without a potentially misleading aggregate. |
| Removed review | When a review is removed for a policy breach, its associated rating and media are removed from the calculation. Partial redaction alone does not remove the rating unless reliability is materially affected. |
| Sorting | Offer newest-first as the neutral default at launch. Qembara may later offer labelled relevance, language, date, score, format, accessibility or Experience-variant sorting using disclosed non-commercial factors. Sentiment, agreement, conversion effect, Host value, commercial pressure and sponsorship must not determine ordering or calculation. |
| Translation | Machine or human translation may be provided and labelled. The original remains authoritative where meaning is disputed; Qembara must not alter sentiment through translation. |
| Age and change | Display review date and included rating period. Reviews older than 36 months leave the current aggregate and default display at the end of the calendar month, reducing abrupt score changes, but remain in a labelled historical view. A material Host, ownership, venue or Experience-model change requires a new Listing or separated pre-change history. |
| Closed Listings | Remove a closed, suspended or prohibited Listing from active search. Preserve reviews and ratings internally where lawful; any retained public archive must show that the Experience is unavailable and must not imply current eligibility. |
| External scores | Do not combine external reviews with Qembara’s score unless the source, scope, age and calculation are clearly separated and disclosed. |
Any automated review tag, highlight or summary must be labelled, traceable to eligible source reviews, refreshed after removal or material change, separated from Host responses unless disclosed, and subject to a correction route. It must not infer religion, health or other sensitive characteristics.
Qembara aims to preserve useful expression. It may publish, decline, redact, label, restrict, remove or restore content under this Policy. Qembara will use the least intrusive effective measure: redact a prohibited personal detail rather than remove the whole review where the remainder is authentic, relevant and understandable.
A user may report a review, response, Listing, profile, message or media through the configured content-reporting control or Help Centre. A report does not guarantee removal. Repeated duplicative or knowingly abusive reporting may be restricted only after documented review and notice where appropriate; no restriction may block good-faith safety, safeguarding, legal, privacy, intellectual-property or authority reports.
| Control | Approved standard |
|---|---|
| Initial moderation | Target within five business days for ordinary referred content. Imminent danger or suspected CSAM triggers automatic containment and immediate specialist escalation. During disclosed monitored coverage, Critical alerts are acknowledged within 15 minutes and High alerts within one hour. |
| User response | Where appropriate, allow three calendar days to respond to a material concern. Qembara may remove or restrict first where delay creates material risk. |
| Decision notice | Identify the content, principal rule, action, effective time, applicable policy version and correction, resubmission or review route, unless disclosure would create a legal, safety or evidence risk. |
| Internal review | Request within 14 calendar days. A person who was not the sole original decision-maker reviews material new evidence, overlooked information, procedural error or inconsistent policy application. |
| Review target | Target within 15 business days. Confirm missing information within three business days and issue a decision within 30 business days unless law, authority action or exceptional complexity prevents it. |
| Urgent support | Immediate danger must be reported to local emergency services first. Urgent escalation begins when detected by a staffed channel or activated alert. Publish monitored hours and after-hours handoff. A failed acknowledgement automatically escalates to the duty lead; Qembara does not promise undisclosed continuous human monitoring. |
Abusive-reporting restrictions require objective indicators, documented warning where safe, senior approval, a defined duration and reinstatement route, and periodic disparate-impact review. Emergency, authority, safeguarding, privacy and intellectual-property reporting routes remain available.
Users retain ownership of their content. The applicable Guest or Host Terms define Qembara’s licence. The permitted use depends on the content surface and purpose; submission of private or restricted content never converts it into public or promotional content. Qembara will not materially change meaning. A review submission is not consent to paid advertising.
| Content surface | Permitted Qembara use |
|---|---|
| Public review or Host response | Host, format, translate and display on the Platform and use only as permitted by the Guest or Host Terms; identifiable Guest imagery in paid advertising requires separate consent where required. |
| Listing or public profile | Host, format, display and promote within the Host Terms, rights and consent limits. |
| Private Booking message | Deliver, retain and access only as reasonably necessary for Booking administration, support, safety, fraud, enforcement and lawful compliance. |
| Content or incident report | Restrict to investigation, safety, enforcement, privacy and legal purposes; do not use publicly or promotionally. |
| Sensitive evidence | Least-privilege restricted use through the approved safety, authority or legal process; no public or promotional use. |
The submitting user must have the rights and permissions required for the content. A report of alleged infringement must identify the protected work or right, the disputed content, the basis of the claim and sufficient contact information. Qembara may restrict content while assessing a credible claim and preserve it where necessary for evidence or legal compliance.
