About this experience

Ever wondered how websites are made?

Join Kitakale for a beginner-friendly coding experience where you'll discover how websites work and create your very first web page.

Kitakale is a digital development agency and learning space based in Binjai, North Sumatra. We believe the best way to learn technology is by building something yourself.

What you'll experience:

  • Discover how websites and web applications work.
  • Learn the basics of HTML, CSS, and a little JavaScript.
  • Create and customise your own simple website.
  • Understand how developers turn ideas into digital products.
  • Get hands-on guidance throughout the session.
  • Take home your project files to continue learning.

Who is this for?

This workshop is designed for complete beginners, curious travellers, students, teachers, and anyone interested in technology. You don't need any previous coding experience.

What makes this experience different?

Unlike a traditional coding class, this is a practical introduction to real-world software development. You'll learn directly from a developer and educator involved in building digital products and mentoring aspiring developers.

We focus on creativity, logical thinking, and problem-solving rather than memorising programming syntax.

What to bring:

Please bring your own laptop with a working web browser. We'll provide guidance and instructions throughout the workshop.

What you'll take home:

By the end of the session, you'll have created your first simple website and gained a better understanding of how programming works.

Come curious, ask questions, and let's build something together!

What you'll do

  1. Welcome & Discover How Websites Work

Meet your instructor and fellow participants at Kitakale. We'll start with a friendly introduction, explore how websites work, and discover how developers turn simple ideas into digital products. No coding experience is needed!

  2. Create Your First Web Page with HTML

Start coding your very first website! Learn how to use HTML to add headings, paragraphs, images, and buttons. With step-by-step guidance, you'll create the basic structure of your own personal web page.

  3. Design and Style Your Website with CSS

Bring your website to life with colours, fonts, spacing, and layouts. Learn basic CSS techniques and customise your web page to reflect your own personality and creativity. Watch your simple HTML page transform into a beautiful website!

  4. Add Interactive Features with JavaScript

Discover how JavaScript makes websites interactive. Create a simple feature, such as a button that changes text or colours when clicked. Learn basic programming logic and see how just a few lines of code can make your website respond to users.

  5. Finish Your Website & Share Your Creation

Put everything together and complete your first personal website. Test your buttons, make final design improvements, and share your creation with the group. You'll take home your project files and learn how to continue practising after the workshop.
